FIRE BAN Effective May 4th 2023
Effective on May 4, 12:01 AM all fires will be prohibited throughout the RM of Meota, and all municipalities within the boundaries. This prohibition covers all Provincial Parks, Crown lands and private lands.
On May 3, 2023, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency elevated the fire risk to “extreme” in our area of the province. In response, the R.M. of Meota, and all Municipalities with in its boundaries has implemented a Fire Ban effective 12:01 a.m. on May 4, 2023. During a fire ban no person shall burn wood in camp fires or cooking receptacles, burn garbage or discharge fireworks. Propane barbecues and propane fire pits are not subject to the fire ban.

A Fire Ban is declared to be in effect for the following areas within the Rural Municipality of Meota No. 468:
- All properties within the RM of Meota #468 including
- Resort Village of Cochin
- Resort Village of Metinota
- Village of Meota.
- This also includes the Battleford’s Provincial Park
- Meota Regional Park.
No new fire permits will be issued to landowners whose property lies within the Fire Ban area while the Fire Ban is in effect, and any permits that have been issued to landowners within the Fire Ban area prior to the Fire Ban will be suspended until the Fire Ban ends.
This ban applies to ALL OPEN BURNING OF ANYOUTDOOR FIRE that may create a public safety hazard, including, but not limited to:
~ Controlled burns
~ Fireworks
~ Campfires
~ Wood Fire Pits
